Precast Prestressed Hollow-Core Design

PCP4 lets you design precast prestressed members from simple floor systems to mighty bridge girders.
It was commissioned by the National Precast Concrete Association of Australia, NPCAA

Precast prestressed hollow-core design differs from normal prestress design because prestress is by pre-tensioning; steam curing leads to initial loss of prestress, some of which is recovered; and the hollow-cores can affect the ku value.

PCP4 automatically sets forty-five essential input values and calculates ninety-nine output values, all of which are comprehensively reported. A tickertape of messages lets you quickly make corrections if any of the values do not comply with requirements. Among many other things, the program...

  • checks if debonding is required to control transfer stresses, and advises the degree and distance of debonding;
  • checks handling and construction loads in addition to stresses at transfer and before and after long-term losses;
  • automatically sets creep and shrinkage factors and required properties of materials based on climatic conditions and exposure classifications;
  • designs for fire rating in accordance with Section 5 of AS 3600.
